For generations, communities in Oakland and the Bay Area have been overpoliced, underprotected, and denied meaningful safety. Systems built on surveillance, incarceration, and inequality have caused lasting harm—especially to Black, Brown, immigrant, and low-income neighborhoods.
The McFadden Finch Foundation supports community-led approaches to justice and safety that prioritize healing, prevention, and equity. We back the people reimagining safety from the ground up—so everyone can live with dignity and without fear.
What We Fund
We support programs and organizations that challenge punitive systems and build safety through connection, care, and accountability.
We fund:
- Restorative and transformative justice programs in schools and communities
- Violence interruption and street outreach led by trusted community members
- Reentry support for formerly incarcerated peopl
- Youth diversion, peer courts, and alternative-to-incarceration models
- Advocacy and organizing to shift public safety policy
- Mental health first response and community care alternatives to policing
