We believe in transparency because trust is earned.
At the McFadden Finch Foundation, every dollar we receive is a tool for equity. That means we hold ourselves accountable not just to funders and partners, but to the communities we serve across Oakland and the greater Bay Area.
Our financial statements are available to the public because we believe you should see where resources are going, how they’re managed, and how they create lasting impact.
We are committed to transparency, strong fiscal stewardship, and aligning our operations with the values we uphold every day in our grantmaking, lending, and partnerships.
What We Share
We publish the following documents annually:
- Audited Financial Statements
- IRS Form 990
- Annual Budget Snapshot
- Grants and Program Allocation Overview
These documents outline how funds are raised, how they’re spent, and how much is directed toward programmatic work vs. operations.
How We Use Our Resources
Our priority is to keep resources flowing directly into communities. On average:
- Over 85% of our annual budget is allocated to grantmaking, lending, capacity building, and direct community investment.
- The remainder supports staff, infrastructure, and operations needed to sustain our long-term work
We make it a point to fund organizations often excluded from traditional philanthropy, including small, BIPOC-led groups and first-time applicants across the Bay Area.
Our Commitment
- Local Investment: Funds stay in the region, benefiting Bay Area neighborhoods, leaders, and organizations.
- Equity in Practice: Our budgeting process prioritizes historically excluded communities.
- Sustainable Growth: We strike a balance between ambition and long-term financial health, ensuring we're here for the long run.
